Presumed first edition, may be second state. There is soiling on the lower right corner of the brown cloth cover. There is a heavily gilded illustration block on the cover and on the backstrip with embossed decoration. The book leans back slightly. The front and back hinge was taped with white book tape or other reinforcement. There is shelf-wear on the upper and lower backstrip and heavier rubbing / wear over the publisher name. There is moisture visible in the lower corner of the gutter from the title page through page 49. There are some areas of soiling such has a soil swipe in the corner on page 49, 387. Small spots on 158-159. There is a small area of moisture on the last few pages upper corner. The pages are soft with moderate toning throughout. 624 pages. Size: 9 x 6".
