Sir Walter Scott Leather Book Set, 1822

“The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott". Complete in eight volumes. Copyright 1822. Printed for Arch Constable and Co, Edinburgh. Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown Company. Size: 6.65 x 4.15". Decorative antique books that would look great on any shelf, office den or mantle. The leather is forest green with orange marbled covers. Two of the lower right cover corners are bumped with a little under-board exposed. Four cover corners bend downward. Every cover has a small rubbed area. There is a 1.5" horizontal small strip of cover paper missing on the back of volume 4. There are rubbed areas that are discolored on the backstrips of Volumes 4, 5 and 8. There is a horizontal tear across the lower backstrip of Volume 8.

The endpapers are white with a cursive message on the upper right endpaper dated 1825. The outer edge of the interior pages are dyed speckled orange. The interior pages are soft, white and intact with mild to moderate tanning throughout. There is a black and white illustration of the author on the frontispiece of Volume 1. There is very light foxing on the title page of Volume 2. There is an occasional small foxing spot in Volume 3 and 8. Several of the upper right corners have creases in Volume 6 and 7. The whole collection is 7.75” wide.
