French Frame with Bronze Wreaths

An antique French frame from the 19th century with a print of a purple iris inside. The frame has brown cloth inside with bronze finishings and bronze wreath ornaments in the corners. The wreaths are darkened with patina in some areas due to age. There is a moisture stain particularly in the upper right corner around the wreath and along the edge. There is a bubble in the cloth along the left edge. The bronze outer edge has patina. The outer edge of the frame is cloth covered and soiled with heavy soiling on the upper edge. The print is from an early 1800’s hand colored engraving from Botanical Magazine by Curtis. Frame size: 7 × 5.25”.

The back has the original kickstand and a small ring to hang. The hardware that holds the back of the print closed is not tight and is currently held in place by a loose piece of tape. The back of the frame is aged but good. The print can be replaced with another print or photo.
